A percussion instrument made from a “calebasse” (calebash/bottle gourd) onto which a mesh with beads is attached. Chekere are represented by the speckled finish of this plain fabric. Linen, polyester warp with a weft of a wool and acrylic yarn with coloured slubs/dupions giving a contrast in shine between the warp and the weft.
