Angora

Angora comes from the long and silky coats of different animals : rabbit, sheep, goat or yack.  The name Angora comes from the name of the town Ankara in Turkey.  The hairs are obtained from combing or shearing the animals.  Combing obtains longer and silkier hairs.  The fibres are then washed, carded and combed to align the fibres and remove the knots.  The fibres are then spun and then woven or knitted.

Acrylic

Acrylic is a synthetic material which can be spun pure or mixed.  Acrylic knitwear can have a wool-like feel. The fabrics can undergo heat treatment to resist creasing or to give a permanent pleat.  Acrylic fabrics have low absorbency and dry quickly.  The fabrics are light, soft and resistant.  Acrylic fibres are resistant to ultraviolet.

Alcantara

Alcantara, from the Spanish town of the same name, is a synthetic leather velvet which has the appearance of suede.  It is a synthetic fibre made of polyester and polyurethane.  Non-woven, it is obtained by aligning the polyester fibres which are bound using a hot polyurethane resin.

All over

Allover is a geometric or illustrative textile pattern illustrations continuously repeated over the entire surface of the fabric.  To design an allover pattern, the designer works on a single design to then repeat it in the optimal way on the fabric.
